North Korea is preparing to restart anti-South Korea propaganda broadcasts along the armed border separating the two countries, according to multiple official statements and media sources. Kim Yo Jong, senior North Korean official and sister to leader Kim Jong Un, announced that the new loudspeakers will be deployed and operational within days, covering the entire Demilitarized Zone. The move comes amid escalating tensions following recent mine blasts along the border, which South Korea attributes to North Korean activity and which resulted in injuries to South Korean soldiers. Pyongyang has denied responsibility for the blasts and criticized what it calls South Korean 'interference.' South Korea has urged dialogue in response to the renewed North Korean propaganda efforts and warned it could take 'proportionate measures.' Analysts say the resumption of these Cold War-era psychological broadcasts could further raise tensions and reverse recent efforts by South Korea’s government to ease inter-Korean relations. The area remains one of the world's most heavily fortified borders.
