Though escape seems impossible behind the massive stone door, Odysseus ingeniously ties his men beneath the woolly sheep, slipping past Polyphemus’s grasp when he lets out his flock. For all his power, the Cyclops is undone by arrogance and ignorance, a lesson that even great strength means little without wisdom—and that wit can open doors where brawn cannot.
