Gulf States Alarmed by Potential Iran Retaliation
Gulf states have expressed growing alarm over the prospect of a fiercer Iranian retaliation if the United States and Israel carry out another strike against Iran, according to multiple diplomatic sources. Senior officials warn that renewed military actions could ignite a broader and more destructive conflict across the Middle East. The United Arab Emirates, via its diplomatic adviser Anwar Gargash, emphasized their efforts at the IISS Manama Dialogue to avert escalation and called for a political solution to the crisis. Regional governments, including those from Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Pakistan, are actively engaging in diplomatic initiatives and visits to Iran in an attempt to reduce tensions. Meanwhile, countries in the Gulf region continue to absorb missile and drone attacks linked to the ongoing conflict, heightening fears of instability, negative investor sentiment, and declining travel demand. Amid ongoing diplomatic efforts, the risk of a wider war remains a serious concern for Gulf leaders.
