Sudan Drone Strikes Kill Over 200 Civilians
Breaking news from Sudan, where the national army has been accused of carrying out a series of deadly drone strikes resulting in the deaths of more than 200 people within the past 24 hours. According to reports from local sources and the Sudan War Observatory, at least 150 people were killed on Sunday evening in West Kordofan state, including dozens of civilians travelling to a funeral. Another drone attack on a fuel market in the disputed Abyei region along the border with South Sudan reportedly left at least 73 people dead. Medical workers at Ameth Bek Hospital in Abyei are treating survivors and the full extent of the casualties remains unclear. The Sudanese army has not responded to direct allegations but maintains it does not target civilians, even when Rapid Support Forces (RSF) fighters are believed to be present. These events represent one of the deadliest incidents since the conflict between the army and the RSF erupted in 2023, further worsening the humanitarian situation and raising concerns over the safety of civilians amid escalating violence.
